A new update is happening in the App Store. Apple is changing some rules. It is to enable external purchases. This way the apps will be able to use their links to redirect users onto their websites or other subscriptions, et cetera.
This is a big step. Which happened after the lawsuit between Apple’s App Store and epic games. Apparently epic games had a problem with App Store purchases. Enabled the App Store to make in- app purchases through which other businesses were getting disturbed.
Meanwhile in the lawsuit the decision of the court was in favour of epic games. Drooling was prohibiting the App Store to not include features that let users go to the original websites or other platforms.
Apple gave clear information on this ruling that because of the court’s decision The rules within the App Store will change a little bit regarding buttons, external links and many other features.
Basically the in app purchases of Apple’s App Store was bothering epic games. According to which both Apple and Google were doing gangster style business. No Apple had all the control over the App Store and its app purchases.
They kept the commission and it also. Which was disturbing other businesses and gaming platforms such as epic games. The main essence of the lawsuit was to give the developers a chance of redirection. So the users can buy directly from the developers instead of paying extra to the tech joint.
You will get flabbergasted while listening that Apple was receiving a 30% cut on each purchase from the developer. And somehow these payments would get fixation points far before the purchase.
After losing the lawsuit, Apple was ready to allow developers to use their own links on the App Store. So the users can purchase directly from their website and subscribe on the website or the app too. Even after changing this rule, Apple was still receiving 27% of commission of each purchase. Apart from the commission, Apple also introduced the scare screen.
After the rolling of Apple and epic games lawsuit, the instruction for the App Store was to remove the scare screens. Also the guidelines about the usage of scare screens and certain languages are also removed.
Moreover, the appeal is not sitting in good favour of Apple. That is why the App Store tech giant is disagreeing with it. The company is thinking about making an appeal too.
After ruling the other app, Spotify is also trying to make an appeal so the users can do external app purchases. Spotify has the same issue as epic games with Apple. It wants users to buy the app and its contents from their own website.
