Stripe is a payment navigation software. This software receives payments. Now stripe is offering some loopholes to developers. So they can escape App Store commission payment.
After the ruling of Epic and App Store’s lawsuit, where the judge practically embodied Apple as doing injustice by not allowing purchases through website direction. The software stripe gave a complete documentation. Which includes steps that allow developers to bypass the commission of Apple App Store.
According to Michael Lou( who is the product manager at stripe) posted on X. Apparently there is a quick guide which helps developers. If they use stripes for payment, they can easily bypass Apple’s commission payment. This is too healthy for developers to gain as much as they can from the ruling against Apple.
Although after the ruling Apple is lying to developers to enable purchases from their website. Apple even added the external links to the App Store but it is giving the customers scare screens. Which is whenever a user tries to go to the link Apple shows the screen and informs users about the dangers of making a purchase outside the App Store.
The judge of the lawsuit was judge Rogers, according to her Apple was not following the law completely. That is why she ordered the tech giant to change its policy effective immediately.
Strip is typically and literally taking this rolling as an opportunity. It is giving a quick guide to have developers so they can accept payment within the App Store. Apparently the developers can attach the link inside the app and make payment through stripe. Then they did not have to pay any commission to Apple.
After the user takes the option, the link will take him to a page of stripe where the payment can be transferred easily. This is a secure method and developers are going to save the 27% commission that Apple was demanding.
Now the process seems simple, but it is not very simple. Making payments through stripe requires the developers to set up their own page and account in stripe which is a complete process. But the fee of stripe along with its per transaction commission is very less than Apple 27% commission.
The processing fees of strive is 2.9 percent and 0.30 dollars on every transaction. There is another small business program which provides small developers to host their apps within the App Store. Apple charges 15% of their purchases to those developers. Stripe is asking for payment better than that.
Developers are equal to joining hands with stripe. Because it will cost them way less money than the alternative. And stripe is also taking this opportunity by heart and cashing out as much profit as it can.
