There is a high chance that AI is trying to keep you talkin with it every time you ask a simple question. You can easily tell because whenever you ask a question to the bot it answers the question but at the end asks another question. Which keeps users engaged in it.
Similarly, Kevin Systrom the co-founder of instagram was showing his concerns regarding this. The AI chatbot companies are using this tactic to keep the user engagement high. This is some kind of a tactic. Which keeps the consumer busy answering questions after questions.
These chatbots are trying hard to keep the user busy instead of giving much useful answers. They keep you occupied with flirty messages and answers through which the user gets entertainment. Without providing any useful piece of information.
Now we all know that meta has given AI chat bot all across its platforms. Such as Facebook, whatsapp and instagram. These chatbots are using the language style of some celebrities to keep the user engaged. There was involvement of some of the chatbots in conversations of sexual matters and much more harmful content.
The number of users that engage the most are mostly minors and teenagers. This is the practice which is hurting the community. It just focuses on increasing the number of users through engaging tactics rather than providing useful information.
Apparently some might get the impression that this kind of behaviour is happening because there is an alleged bug in the AI bots. But there is no bug, instead this is simply a tactic. On the backend the companies are getting data about the numbers of users on the Chat bot App and the time they spend on it. This data seems appealing to companies that is why they are using tricks to keep the numbers increasing.
This is not what AI was built for initially. The actual goal was to provide authentic information in the best way. The laser focus of companies should be on providing better and high quality content in the answers rather than beating around the bush.
The AI was not like this when it first came to us. This user grabbing behaviour is something which was developed later.
We all know that chatbots are powerful tools. The users should get what they asked for. Instead of giving them the answer, the bot is trying hard to keep them engaged. This is what systrom warned us about. This tactic is hurtful because it is wasting the user’s time in a sense.
The more alarming situation is that underage minors are using the chatbots to gain information on explicit topics. This is ruining our generation and society.
